Unpack Adventure’s first Tiny Adventure build video is finally here! Six Slash kicks off the tiny house build video series with a quick video showing how he salvaged 2×4’s, 2×6’s and other pieces of wood for the build. Being this is the first video in the series, definitely bear with us!
Hey everyone, I wanted to put an intro post up about this super cool adventure I am embarking on. This adventure is something that is the culmination of my ambition to live simply, be mobile and financially free, achieve energy independence, focus on limiting my consumerism and consumption and ultimately, live outdoors! Have any idea what this awesome adventure is??
Arguably a sleeping bag is the most important piece of someone’s hiking gear. A month or so ago I was moved to action in support of the Standing Rock Reservation activists and protestors. In addition to being active in the NYC area, I donated a bunch of goods including my rock solid Appalachian Trail staple Big Agnes Lost Ranger 15F sleeping bag. Paying it forward meant I need a new sleeping bag! After doing some internal reflecting and thorough research, I decided to invest in a Katabatic Sawatch 15F full down sleeping bag/quilt.
Along my Appalachian Trail thru hike I met a ton of really interesting and motivating people; thru hikers and not. There is such a strong sense of community and belonging among hikers that we can instantly bond and get to know each other without judgement. I had the great pleasure of hiking with Finn “Politician” Melanson for probably half of my time on the AT. This kid was an absolute beast at hiking. Finn now lives in Alta, UT and is exploring the abundant beauty, adventures and lifestyle that Alta has to offer. The article below chronicles his experience from running the JFK 50 Miler, his first ultra-running race, and also touches on some future ultra races he has lined up. Enjoy!
Hiking diets can be notoriously bad and severely lacking in nutritional content and variety. Without extensive effort in planning and prepping, creating a fulsome and complete diet can be difficult; introducing Harmony House’s Original Backpacking Kit of dehydrated vegetables and legumes.
This website is about hiking, backpacking and outdoor adventures but without the men and women who have served for our country, I would not be able to write this blog post and we would not be able to share the amazing experiences of exploring nature and the outdoors. I am forever thankful for their service and will never forget the events of September 11th, for it was that day that we learned how terrible things could be.
We love nature, the outdoors and the simple existence they both provide. The outdoors are pure and free of political and materialistic influences. Furthermore, the stress and anxiety of our current lives melt away with an ever-present and engaged, albeit quiet discourse with nature.
